Kaktu was a clear oil refined from the flowers of kaktu, a member of the composite family native to semiarid to temperate shortgrass prairies. Kaktu oil was extracted by boiling the flowers for several hours in a large container. The oil floated to the surface, where it was collected and filtered. Kaktu affected appendages ; the resulting dexterity loss. If eaten raw, the flowers had the same effect but were weaker.
