[Source] The war sword was a long blade made of the finest metals used by the Jedi and the Sith before the invention of the lightsaber. In other cultures these weapons were known as "longswords." Most Sith swords were war swords treated with Sith alchemy that produced a deadly dark-side weapon. A two-bladed version of the war sword was the double-bladed sword. War swords were carried as a backup melee weapons by Krath warriors.
