The 2009 Rally d'Italia Sardegna was the 6th round of the 2009 FIA World Rally Championship. It took place on the 22nd to the 24th May 2009. It was the first rally of the season that was not won by Sebastien Loeb. Instead he was given a 2 minute penalty as his co-driver Daniel Elena wasn't wearing his seatbelt as the car picked up a puncture, dropping him from third to fourth place. Jari-Matti Latvala won the rally from team-mate Mikko Hirvonen and Petter Solberg in his privateer Citroen Xsara took his second podium of the year after Loeb's penalty, finishing in third place.
