His original name originates from the Japanese word ko ete, which means small male monkey, and his English name is derived from "monkey". He is known by the original Japanese name, Koemon in Digimon World DS. Koemon has an over-sized slingshot that he carries around on his back, which he wields with ease despite the size difference.
