The Sienar Advanced Projects Laboratory (or APL for short) was a secret starfighter design and testing facility of Sienar Fleet Systems. It was located on Lothal, whose relative obscurity and remoteness provided protection from spies. The APL's first prototype, the TIE Advanced v1, was unveiled at the Capital City Empire Day parade in 5 BBY.
