Essi Vilaga was a Mirialan female Jedi Knight of the Jedi Order. She was taken very young by the Jedi to the Jedi Temple on Bakura and trained as a Jedi by several masters. She was marked to death by the Zabrak Sith Darth Matas and as such, they became strong enemies who encountered each other numerous times.
