Read or Die is a fictional series created by the Japanese author Hideyuki Kurata. The series began in 2000 as a series of short novels, but quickly expanded to include spin-off manga and anime series. Although the manga, anime and novels all use the same characters, each of the three take place in a different continuity, such that events in the manga do not necessarily follow in the anime or the novels.
