"Exotic Matter" is a post-Hogwarts short story by Squibstress. It was written for the 2013 Minerva Fest. The title is a reference to the concept of exotic matter—matter thought to behave abnormally or have or "exotic" properties—in theoretical physics. Some scientists have hypothesized that the shortcuts through spacetime known as wormholes require the existence of exotic matter. "Exotic Matter" won first place in the "Best Drama-Angst" category and second place in the "Best Het Smut" of the "Hogwarts Staff & Spirits" section in the Spring/Summer 2014 HP Fanfic Fanpoll Awards.
