GlobalNews was a planetwide informational service on Earth in the mid 21st century. In 2045, Lee Kelso released a number of computer viruses and tapeworms into GlobalNews's databanks, in order to create conflicting information about a rumored extraterrestrial visitation, and to delete the more inflammatory stories. (TOS novel: Strangers from the Sky) It is unclear what the relationship is between GlobalNews and the apparently similar organization MediaComm.
