USS Akula (NCC-1090) was an Akyazi-class perimeter action ship on active duty in Starfleet during at least the late 23rd century. It was the lead ship and a prototype for the Akula-subclass of perimeter action ships. The subclass featured an extended deflector pod beneath the superstructure of the ship.
