Kanz's mother was an inhabitant of Darujhistan, Genabackis, along with Kanz, her mischievous nine year old son, and her daughter, Kanz's sister. Kanz loved to tease his hot, quick-tempered sister, and their resulting rambunctious, exasperating, behavior (or "zasperating" as their mother liked to say) always caused Kanz's mother to exclaim, "You two will [someday] be the death of each other!"
