Alonis Cobaryn was a Rigelian man of the 22nd century. He was one of the first captains to serve in the Federation Starfleet. Amongst the earliest captains, there was a divide between those considered "Butterfly Catchers" (scientists) and Romulan War veterans over what the future of the new Starfleet should be. Cobaryn was on the Butterfly Catcher's side. He was first captain of an old Christopher-class ship, and later of the Daedalus-class USS Horizon. (ST novel: Starfleet: Year One)
