Joe Trela from Gilroy, California, was a contestant on the U.S. version of the show on March 23, 2000. He became the third American contestant to win $1,000,000 after using all of his lifelines by question 10. Later he appeared on Champions edition and won $1000 ($500 goes to his charity and the other $500 went to him).
