Google today (November 27, 2007, PST) announced plans to invest in Alternative Energy R&D under a new initiative called RE2 emissions and the Greenhouse Effect. Specifically Google is aiming develop renewable technology to produce 1 gigawatt at a cheaper price Coal based technology. By making such a big investment it is believed that this goal can be achieved in a few years using current technology.
