He joined the other members of SG-3 on a mission to P3X-797 to provide backup for SG-1. Upon his return to Stargate Command he began to act irrationally and attacked Teal'c. It was discovered that he had come in contact with a disease and became one of "The Touched." (SG1: "The Broca Divide")
