The wolfmen who now permeate most of the dreadful woods tore through the working men and supervisors with impunity, and feasted on their flesh afterwards. Led by the cunning Grimson the Pale, the worgen have made the mine their home, and ferociously attack anyone who wanders too close. The mine's name was likely inspired by the Grateful Dead song "Deep Elem Blues."
