The Civil Front Party is a left-wing Irish political party known for its dominance during the 1960's and early 1970's. Two Civil Front leaders, Cearbhall Ó Dálaigh and Timothy Hainneach, served as President of Ireland during the party's heyday, in which it governed Ireland along with the center-left Labour Party. Since the 1976 elections and especially after 1985, the power and role of the Civil Front has been greatly diminished, and they generally form coalitions with Labour and the Irish Socialists, despite having been political rivals of both parties at numerous occasions throughout their existence.
