In 2015, the Town of Windsor terminated fire protection services to an area in the Municipality of West Hants after a long-running disagreement over costs. Operational command of the substation in Vaughan was turned over to Hantsport Fire Department, while the area immediately surrounding Windsor is covered by a new station on Tonge Hill Road operated by the Brooklyn Volunteer Fire Department.
