Determined to prove he had got his drinking under control, Peter Barlow arrived at an unnamed pub after an alcoholics' meeting in January 2010 and ordered a half-pint. Once he was finished the barmaid serving behind the bar asked Peter if he wanted another drink, but he declined her offer as he was only having one. After this he left the premises in order to see his son Simon.
