The Viatti crime family was the primary Italian-American criminal organization operating in Cuba between the 1930's and 1960's, during the heydey of Cosa Nostra activity in the state during the Cuban tourism boom. The Viattis were alternatively known as the Havana Outfit, and in the 1950's were regarded as the largest and most unprecedentedly powerful criminal organization in US history, far outmuscling any of the New York families or Midwestern outfits. By the early 1970's, however, the family had lost much of its power through infighting and the rise of Cuban street gangs in traditional Mafia territory.
