Hippocrates-class medical frigates were a type of Federation starship on active duty during at least the late 23rd and possibly early 24th centuries. (Starfleet Dynamics, 2291 edition) The design was based on the Surya-class spaceframe, but with dedicated laboratory and intensive-care facilities. Hangar bays included specialized medevac shuttles and auxiliary craft. The name of only one vessel of this class was known, that of the lead ship and prototype, USS Hippocrates.
