They were released by the Vagabond Clan as part of a plan to eat noodles without paying. The termites ate all the chopsticks and nobody could eat noodles. The Vagabonds become exterminators but Shaman accidentally makes the termites become giants. After that Abyo tried to face the termites but the Queen Termite stopped him. Garu was going to save him but the Queen fell in love with him. For that Pucca got mad and got a giant lantern and pulled away all the termites. They also appear in the episode Chop Chewie.
