West flew around the trans-Briar Patch sectors in his ship the SS Rocinanté working odd jobs wherever he could get them. When he had enough money saved he moved on to the next planet. Meanwhile, he was known to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it, especially if it involved correcting some great injustice or thwarting some great evil.
