The Pokemon Anime: Sun & Moon series is the sucessor to the XY series. It is the sixth series of the anime and the series is nearly completely original with nearly no references to the Generation VII core series games, apart from the region and the regional Pokemon. Along with the Pokemon 20th anniversary, Sega decided to collaborate with the Pokemon Company and decided to put in Sonic characters as well, to also celebrate Sonic's 25th anniversary.
