Ofuda of the Unraveled Soul were blank spell scrolls created as gifts by a mad Ishiken. Each was a collection of wooden slats held together by soft twine, and held a connection with the Void Dragon, enhancing the spell which any shugenja would inscribe on it, but with the drawback of a dangerous side-effect. If the owner died or lose the ofuda, it became blank again.
