Nevis was a Bajoran male and a member of the Bajoran Militia assigned to Deep Space 9. In 2373, he travelled to Cardassia aboard the USS Defiant to guard the Orb of Time on its way back to Bajor. When Nevis returned to duty after dining in the mess hall, he and Major Kira Nerys discovered Deputy Arlan, who had been attacked by Arne Darvin. (DS9 novelization: "Trials and Tribble-ations")
