The ISS Melbourne (NX-51900) was an Excelsior-class starship and the flagship of the Terran Empire. The starship was under the command of Admiral Ben Crook when she was attacked by a wing of mixed Klingon and Cardassian ships. The Melbourne was able to either destroy of disable most of them before the Alliance ships punched and hole in her shields and took out the ships main computer core. With her power failing and life support going offline Admiral Cook ordered the evacuation of the Melbourne. Admiral Crook and his First officer stayed onboard using what power was left to fight off the Klingons and Cardassians so they crew could escape in shuttlecrafts and escape pods.
