Zaros came to Gielinor when Guthix was sleeping. He the saw the Mahjarrat and wanted to become their leader. However, Icthlarin was already their leader. Wanting to take them away from them, he sought to find someone close to Icthlarin, but all the Menaphite Gods were afraid of him. All but one. He soon met Scabaras meditating. They became friends, and in Zaros's favor, Scabaras would like nothing more then the Mahjarrat to be taken away from Icthlarin. However, all their plans failed, but one Mahjarrat, named Zammy agreed to help them overthrow Icthlarin. This happened, and Zammy and Zaros became best friends, while Scabaras went on his path to enlightenment. However, Zamorak got paranoid about the power Zaros had over him, and decided to revolt.
