Rhodesia was an unrecognised state located in southern Africa during the Cold War. In 1979, after the collapse of the apartheid government, it became the nation known today as Zimbabwe. During the 1960's and 1970's Rhodesians, especially John Love, usually took part in the South African Grand Prix as privateers. Love scored the first and only podium for a Rhodesian driver at the 1967 South African Grand Prix when he finished second in a Cooper-Climax.
