She appeared on Sesame Street in Season 25 in a segment with Elmo. Yamaguchi contributed a "Chicken Scaloppine" recipe for Miss Piggy's 1996 cookbook, In the Kitchen with Miss Piggy. At the 2011 White House Easter Egg Roll, Yamaguchi wrapped up her story session by saying "So basically Poppy wants all of you to know that it is okay to dream big. And to have those dreams and to work hard and no matter what, you know, keep trying just like they said on Sesame Street, keep trying, and trying. And some day maybe your dreams can come true too."
