The Battle of New Tyne was an engagement during the United Nations Space Command's battle to reclaim the Insurrectionist controlled colony of Venezia. On October 7th, after the destruction of the Venezian naval force, the UNSC began unloading a landing force at the main settlement on the planet, the city of New Tyne. In short order, the local airfield was captured by the UNSC, who continued to bring into troops constantly. Over the next week, the rebels and UNSC clashed in a long, drawn out urban battle that saw the UNSC gaining ground at a high cost. Unbeknownst to the UNSC commander, General William Powav, the rebel commanders in the Militia Council had no intention of holding the city.
