In Civilization IV, intercept is a move that can be done by the Fighter and Jet Fighter. Intercepting allows your units shoot enemy planes down when they come to bomb or strike your cities. Your city will be unharmed. Besides fighters, the Anti-Tank, Mechanized Infantry, SAM Infantry, and the Mobile SAM can do this as well. These all have a reduced chance of damaging planes.
