Preston Road Estate is a large council housing estate in East Hull. The estate has a population of approximately 6,000. Preston Road runs through the estate, which is bound by Marfleet Lane in the East, and Southcoats Lane in the West. To the south is a disused railway line, and beyond there the docklands, '7 alleys', and Hull prison. The Holderness Drain cuts the estate into Eastern and Western halves as it flows down to the Humber. The estate was constructed in 2 stages; part was built in the inter-war years, and then a second part was developed in the postwar years.
