Mendark 9 had the highest total level for a pure non-member for several years during RuneScape Classic and the early years of RuneScape 2. His #1 rank in free play overall was far above anyone else for years. He quit in June 2006 and was eventually surpassed by Syzygy. He was the first free player to reach a total level of 1400 and the first non-member to achieve 99 Crafting.
