Jonas Escobar was a Human who served in Starfleet in the late-24th century. In 2378, he served as deputy chief of security of Deep Space Nine and communications officer aboard the USS Defiant. Escobar had been in the Maquis prior to serving as a sergeant in the Military Assault Command Operations. He often enjoyed antagonizing superiors, especially younger commanding officers, during his tenure as a MACO. This was a trait often rubbed his colleagues the wrong way. That was still one of his habits after he received a battlefield commission after the war when he responded to an order from Lieutenant Ezri Dax with sarcasm.
