The German dub of Dog City was broadcast on ZDF in 1995, without a name change for the show. The first five episodes were released on Region 2 DVD by Foreign Media Group Germany on May 19, 2008, and reissued with a slightly different cover by CMS Constructive Media Service on November 27, 2009. The following five episodes were released on Region 2 DVD by the same company on October 8, 2009. Since the series was recorded in Studio Hamburg, where Sesamstrasse is both filmed and dubbed, the cast included several Sesamstrasse veterans or relatives thereof.
