In 2381, Lieutenant Waverly was the chief engineer of the USS Esquiline during that vessel's exploration of the Delta Quadrant. Esquiline's first mission was the establishment of a time-delay interface with Starfleet Command that extended almost 40,000 light-years into the Delta Quadrant. (VOY novel: Children of the Storm)
