The Black-winged parrot (Hapalopsittaca melanotis), also known as the black-eared parrot or Peruvian black-winged parrot, is a small (24 cm) species of parrot found in the eastern Andes. It is largely green with large black patches on wings, dull yellow around eyes, blue-grey beak, and distinct patches over the ears. It occupies montane forest, both tall trees and boggy areas. It eats mainly fruit. Flocks up to 50. Nest sites unknown. It has two subspecies in separate ranges:
