Catharinia, officially the Socialist Kingdom of Cathirinia, is a Micronesian island nation in the Pacific Ocean. Cathirinia occupies around a fourth of Catharinia Island and a few smaller offshore islands of the Catharinia Archipelago, bordering the People's Republic of Catharinia and the Democratic Republic Arcadia. In 1954 the colony, that had already lost its northern half through the independence of the People's Republic of Catharinia in 1940, became an independent republic. In 1961 the western and eastern parts of the republic seperated through a treaty and formed two new states: the Democratic Republic Arcadia and the Kingdom of Catharinia. Since octobre 2008, the country is officially a socialist kingdom and makes up part of the Catharinian Socialist Confederation.
