The skin up is what makes splitboards unique compared to normal snowboards. This involves splitting the splitboard into its ski like halves, attaching the climbing skins, and starting to climb up hill. If an existing skintrack exists it is usually easiest to follow it. Otherwise climbing requires breaking trail.
