Flamewing was a (relatively) young dragon that Daine encountered during Wild Magic. Flamewing was transported against her will into Tortall during the siege of Pirate's Swoop, and attacked in rage. She was pregnant could feel that her fetus had died when she crossed realms. Daine's wild magic, however, healed the dragon fetus within her, and she was able to give birth safely to her daughter, Skysong. However, she soon returned to the battle to help fight against the invaders and is killed. Her last action was to charge Daine to find and care for her newborn baby.
