The Appeal Against House-Elf Slavery was an appeal made to the British Ministry of Magic, in an attempt to forbear the enslavement of house-elves in wizarding Britain. The Ministry of Magic defeated this appeal in 1973. Later, when Hermione Granger joined the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures at the Ministry, in the 2000s, she was instrumental in greatly improving life for house-elves and their kind.
