The Kl'ar-class was a type of starship in service to the Imperial Klingon Defense Force in the late 23rd century. In 2277, three Kl'ar-class vessels, under the command of Captain Kang, were ordered to transport Kaare to the planet Pollox IV for diplomatic talks with Starfleet Fleet Admiral Karis Tatenen. Following the breakdown of talks, engineered by Tatenen, the elderly admiral attempted to ram the three cruisers with the shuttlecraft Galileo, which Tatenen had stolen from the USS Enterprise.
