A laser-lathe was a machine tool used in 24th century woodworking. Unlike early lathes, this device used lasers rather than metal blades and bits to carve and shape the wooden objects. In 2377, Commander Sonya Gomez observed the handcrafted woodworks created by the Sage's civilization, and noted that their tools and methods were just as effective as any modern laser-lathe.
