Years before the events of the first film, Shockwave & his pet Driller arrived on Earth millions of years ago thus placing them into stasis mode. They were later discovered by the Russians & a facility was upon to contain them. The Driller & its master manages to escape this years later, thus being the cause of the Chernobyl disaster, hiding in the remains of the facility. The Autobots Optimus Prime & Rachet, alongside with NEST, led by Decepticon agent Alexi Voskhod, guides them Chernobyl, where the Driller attacked them. After a brief fight, Optimus manages to cut a tentacle of the beast to retrieve the fuel cell of the Ark. Afterwards, the Driller then reveals its master, Shockwave then retreated underground afterwards, leaving the Autobot leader distrubed to see them.
