Since he is watching before going to work, Nick is presumably watching the early evening network news, which comes on at 6:00 PM in Toronto. With a three-letter acronym, CTG is clearly a fictional Canadian television network. (A local station would have four call letters.) This raises a question: what do the letters stand for? Just as "CBC" stands for Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, "PBS" stands for Public Broadcasting System, and "ITV" stands for Independent Television, so "CTG" should be short for something. The "C" is probably "Canadian/Canada", and the "T" is very likely "Television". One possibility for the "G" is "Group". As a national television network, CTG could be a group of affiliated television stations and small networks, rather than have a single owner.
