Heroes of Rokugan was the journal of Miya Mashigai. He wrote it after the White Blossom, the ship he was travelling on, was wrecked at sea. He survived, washing up in a foreign land, but became severely ill. He was tended to by those who lived there and a lord of the land asked him to tell him stories of his home. Mashigai compiled these stories into the journal.
