The Cartasian Discipline is the set of rules, rituals, and activities which define life for an avout. These span the gamut from what plants can be cultivated within a math, to what clothing an avout can wear, to how the avout may interact with the Ita and the saecular world. Nearly all forms of praxis are denied the avout, resulting in such innovations as the use of a genetically modified leaf for manufactured paper. The Discipline was first established at the Reconstitution based on rules formulated by Saunt Cartas and has been revised after each of the Great Sacks.
