Welk was a Human Dark Jedi and a former member of the Shadow Academy, who became the apprentice of Tamith Kai after the death of her student, Vilas. By the time of the Yuuzhan Vong War Welk had apparently joined the One Sith, and along with Lomi Plo, a Nightsister and Sith Master, he was sent to escort the independent Dark Lady Lumiya back to the Sith enclave base on Korriban.
