The Staff of Protodermis is easily mixed up with the Spear of Protodermis, but they are two different tools. Staff of Protodermis is the weapon wielded by Protodermis Matoran. It was shorter than the Spear of Protodermis, but still quite long. It could be used in melee combat, as well as channeling Protodermis Matoran's powers of Protodermis.
